This page lists every cookie and similar technology that may be set on your device when you visit safefinancehub.com. We try to keep the list short and we add nothing without disclosing it here.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Some cookies are essential for the website to function (signing you in, blocking bots). Others are used for analytics or advertising measurement. We use the minimum set listed below and nothing else.
Cookies set directly by us
- sfh_sess: our own session cookie, set only after you sign in to your account. Lets us keep you signed in across pages without re-entering your email.
HttpOnly,Secure,SameSite=Lax. Lifetime: 90 days, refreshed on use. Strictly necessary for the account dashboard, watchlists, alerts and Plus toolkit to work. - localStorage entry
sfh_cookie_choice: stores your accept/reject choice from the cookie banner on your own device so we do not ask again. Never leaves your browser.
Cookies set by third parties we embed
1. Cloudflare (CDN and security)
We use Cloudflare to serve the Site quickly and to protect against attacks. Cloudflare may set the following cookies:
- __cf_bm: a bot-management cookie used to distinguish humans from automated traffic. Strictly necessary, in line with PECR / ePrivacy. Lifetime: 30 minutes. Cloudflare reference.
- cf_clearance: set if Cloudflare's challenge page verifies that you are a human. Lifetime: up to 30 days. Same reference as above.
2. Cloudflare Turnstile (CAPTCHA on forms)
On pages that contain our newsletter signup form, the sign-in / signup forms, or any of the Plus tool forms, we embed Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated submissions. Turnstile may set short-lived technical cookies on the challenges.cloudflare.com domain to perform its security check. These are limited to anti-abuse and do not profile you across other websites. 3. Google Ads measurement (gtag.js)
We currently run paid search ads on Google. To see which ads bring in sign-ups, every page on the Site loads googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=AW-18104191044. This may set the following cookies on the safefinancehub.com domain:
- _gcl_au: stores a Google Ads click identifier so a sign-up that happens later in the same browser can be attributed back to the ad that brought you here. Lifetime: 90 days.
- _ga / _gid: standard Google measurement cookies, set if Google decides they are needed for conversion attribution. Lifetimes: up to 2 years and 24 hours respectively.
We do not use this data to build behavioural profiles or to retarget you with display ads. The tag exists purely so we can tell which keywords convert, and we read the data only in aggregate inside the Google Ads dashboard. Google's cookie reference.
You can opt out of Google's measurement entirely by installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or by blocking googletagmanager.com in your browser's content blocker.
4. Google Fonts
Our pages load typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. According to Google's documentation the Google Fonts CSS and font files are served without setting cookies and the requests are not used to identify users. We are working on self-hosting these fonts to remove this third-party request entirely.
5. NOWPayments (only on the checkout page)
When you click "Get Plus" and proceed to pay, you are handed off to nowpayments.io, our crypto payment processor. NOWPayments runs its own cookies on its own domain - none of those cookies are set by safefinancehub.com. Refer to their cookie policy for the full list.
Cookies we do not set
For clarity, the following are not in use on the Site at the time of writing:
- No general-purpose web analytics (no Plausible, no Matomo, no Hotjar; the gtag described above is conversion-only and not used as a behavioural analytics product).
- No social-advertising pixels (no Meta Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no TikTok pixel).
- No affiliate-network tracking cookies. When we use affiliate links to recommended providers, the cookies are set on the destination site (e.g. the broker), not on ours.
- No social-media share widgets that track you across sites.
If we add any of the above, this page will be updated and the cookie banner will be expanded to give you a choice before they load.
How to refuse or remove cookies
You can clear and block cookies in any modern browser. Standard instructions:
Refusing cookies will not stop you from reading the Site. The newsletter form may not work if you block scripts from challenges.cloudflare.com, because the CAPTCHA cannot run.
Your stored cookie choice
If you previously accepted or rejected our cookie banner, you can change that decision below.
- Reset preferences clears the choice we stored on your device. The banner will appear again on your next page view so you can pick again.
- Withdraw consent additionally deletes the Google Ads cookies (
_ga,_gid,_gcl_au) for thesafefinancehub.comdomain and stopsgtag.jsfrom loading on subsequent pages until you opt in again.
Note: cookies set by Cloudflare (__cf_bm, cf_clearance) are strictly necessary for bot protection and cannot be opted out of from inside the Site - block them in your browser if needed. To opt out across the wider Google ad network as well, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
